THE LAST SUPPER
For those with an appetite for substance and deft musical style, The Last Supper delivers. Bassist Mike Perkins and drummer Mauro Scatozza, provide a solid foundation for Dan Shwetz’s searing vocals and Pete Walker’s weaving guitar.
Currently based out of Smiths Falls, Ontario, the band and independent record label VAMP Records were founded by Dan Shwetz and Peter Walker in the late 1990s while attending the University of Western Ontario.
The Last Supper was a name chosen to symbolize a gathering of friends. After graduation, the band decided they wanted to travel, using their music as the vehicle. The band spent time in Los Angeles and played the college circuit throughout Canada and the U.S. In the early 2000s the band decided to start touring internationally.
The upcoming 2025 tour will be the bands 24th tour overseas. The band has since released 5 studio albums, having sold thousands of copies, and has received commercial radio play in Canada, UK, The Netherlands, USA, Jordan, Egypt and South Africa.
At one point the band was the number one played indie artist in rotation on the Canadian music video station MuchMusic. The band’s music has also been featured in several film soundtracks and TV shows. The Last Supper's new album called “Burn the Boats" is currently adding final touches with the help of producer and recording engineer Chris Kimsey (Rolling Stones, INXS, The Cult, Paul McCartney) will be released in the spring of 2025.
The first EP of the new album called Side A is currently released to Apple Music and Spotify. The group has played over 1300 live shows across four continents, and performed with acts including Iron Maiden, Joe Cocker, Peter Frampton, ThinLizzy, Our Lady Peace, Slash’s Snakepit, The Tea Party, Ministry, and Queensryche. They have appeared at numerous famous rock clubs and European festivals including the Milkweg in Amsterdam, House of Blues (New Orleans), the Whiskey-A-Go-Go, Roxy (L.A), Download Festival(UK), and BosPop (NL).
Among the highlights of their international shows was a stadium benefit concert in Turkey in 2000, and a date in front of The Great Pyramids in Egypt in December 2010. The Last Supper was picked as one of the best 20 new bands on the planet for 2006 by Classic Rock Magazine from the U.K., and has been included on several compilation CD distributed internationally by the world renown rock magazine.
The band has also become part of a reality television show called Band Without Borders. The series features life on the road with the band as they attempt to set the world record for the most countries toured by a musical group. The band will be touring 100 countries over the next few years with 33 countries completed so far.
The band is also very proud to be the driving force behind the unique 7 Wonders World Festival series. This is a new legacy event that will be a traveling music festival with several global artists that will take place at the 7 Wonders of the World. The first event is planned for the fall of 2025 at The Great Pyramids Of Giza in Egypt.
On February 22, 2024, The Last Supper made history by landing their song "Musicians Prayer" on the Moon as a part of the LUNAPRISE, a time capsule with art curated from 222 artists, musicians and historians from around the world.
